History of the
Independent Women's Club Hockey League (IWCHL)
The League began its inaugural season in 2013 comprised of eight school-sanctioned New England women’s club ice hockey teams. Co-founded by John Vlachos, Jr. (Salem State) and Paul Munzing (Endicott), the League was formed in an effort to better structure as well as to standardize play and competition among women’s club hockey teams. Teams play a 12 to 14 game regular season schedule with the top four teams earning playoff berths scheduled for mid-February. Games are played with three seventeen-minute stop-time periods. All games are officiated by certified referees and follow NCAA ice hockey rules.
For the 2017-2018 Season additional teams have been added while maintaining the approved teams prior seasons.
